At the Western Writers of America’s Homestead Auction many years ago I had the high bid for this photo of my friend Bill Markley and six other re-enactors on horseback. (Bill’s in the middle).
The photo has hung on the wall next to my desk ever since. I can’t explain why it has such significance for me, but I think we all owe a debt of gratitude to individuals like Bill who make history come alive
